snow

Today was awesome because I took the train to university to pick up my readers for the second semester, and they were there. Last time I went there, they didn't have the bloody things yet, and today is awesome because I didn't make the trip to university for nothing. Apart from that, everything looked pretty damn beautiful, all covered in snow. It's a mess in the city, but outside of it it looks really nice.

it's a fanfic kind of vacation

Today is awesome because I spent almost all of my time reading fanfiction. Lovely useless business, that. I also did a little (tiny, really) bit of studying and I watched some Doctor Who. Sounds like vacation to me. I've got another week and a half of this before my classes at university begin again for the second semester, and I intend to enjoy them!

iamsterdam

Today is awesome because I spent it in Amsterdam. That's right, Amsterdam. I spent my late morning and early afternoon freezing my butt off while walking around the city center, admiring the architecture (and getting hopelessly lost. That feat took me only half an hour after leaving the train station.). I spent a bit of time looking for the Rijksmuseum after deciding that it was too busy at Hermitage, but I couldn't find it, of course, so I went back to the center of the city center, so to speak. Eventually I did find the museum, entirely by accident, because I got off a tram at Leidsche square, where I thought I could do some shopping. There was no good shopping to be had, but after turning two corners I pretty much smacked into the Rijksmuseum, which I actually didn't recognize at first (I felt like such a n00b when I finally realized what building it was I was looking at and admiring). I spent almost two hours admiring the collection, as I've never been to this museum before. It was beyond awesome.

Doctor Who?

Today is awesome because I read, and studied a little, and I also decided to watch all of Doctor Who, starting with the first series from 1963. I've watched 4 episodes so far, so I've only several hundred left :P. It's a massive project, but one I'll enjoy.

airbase

Today is awesome because I went to the airbase for maintenance work on the winch and some cleaning :). It was a lot of fun to see some of the others again and also getting some work done, but it was COLD. Dear God it was cold; the heating didn't work in the garage. But still awesome. Also, I'm reading Don Quichot, by Miguel de Cervantes! Pretty awesome.

...

Today is awesome because I finished reading The meaning of life by Terry Eagleton. I now know a lot more about philosophy than I did two days ago, and though the book was slightly depressing, it was nice all the same. Is there a meaning to life? Not unless you make one.
I also started reading in A history of the modern world by Palmer, Colton and Kramer again for next semester. I like the book because it's interesting, I hate it because it has over 1100 pages. Meh. I like the fact that I'm already getting started on my reading though, because I'll have a bit more time for other things than just studying during at least the first bit of the next semester.

reading and holiday

Today is awesome because I'm blogging this today instead of tomorrow! Okay, bad reason, so today is awesome because I finished reading According to Mary Magdalen, which was awesome. I really like the Jesus that Fredriksson portrays and the way he lives and talks about life and people and God and stuff. Yes, I know, I'm typing like a thirteen year-old. Screw that, I suck terribly at writing (or talking) sincerely about almost anything that concerns faith or spirituality without sounding like a douche... I'll work on it. Maybe.
Today is also awesome because it's the first day of my two week holiday. Yay!

exam pwnage

Obviously, this blogging is turning into a two-daily event. I think I can live with that.
Yesterday was by far the most awesome day of the week, because I got my results back on my History Introduction exam, and I scored 90%! I was literally jumping up and down when I got the news, I was so happy.
Today is awesome because I think I did well on my Contemporary History exam, which really is a relief. I've got two and a half weeks of no university obligations whatsoever now, which is great. I've no studying to do either, as the classes of the seconds semester won't start until February. SCORE!

Jesus knows what you're thinking

Yesterday - I really need to make a habit of posting daily, and not 'every so often' - was awesome because it was Sunday, and Sunday's are always awesome. Also, almost all of the snow melted away yesterday, which is a good thing. We'd had snow for over a month now, and that's way longer than I bargained for. I'm glad it's (almost) gone.
Today is awesome because it was a pretty relaxed day of studying. I turned my Internet off (yes, really), so I spent my breaks reading this book I got a while ago, According to Mary Magdalen by Marianne Fredriksson, which is a really great book. It's awesome and I love the Jesus that is portrayed in this book: just a down to earth bloke, who happens to hear God's voice in his head and decided to do what God told him instead of trying to ignore the guy. I don't agree with the whole 'Jesus hugs a cripple and *poof*, the cripple can walk'-thing, but I guess you can't get around that when it comes to Jesus. The way she describes that Jesus knows what people are thinking and what they've been through is nice however. I still think all that's bull though... Anyhow: great book! I love it.

more holes

Yesterday was so awesome that I forgot to post (a lame excuse, but an excuse all the same). The reason my day was so awesome yesterday, was that I got a new piercing. I got a sternum piercing, to be precise, and I'm really happy with it. At the same time, I'm terrified that it'll get rejected, since my piercer told me that about 50% of all surface piercings get rejected (jikes!). I'm treating it the best I know how though, and I (almost) only touch in when I clean it (which is three times a day). I just got a massive shock though when I saw blood around the top hole, and then when I cleaned it there was blood around the bottom hole as well. I must have jarred the piercing on the edge of my desk or something, because I don't remember bumping into anything else. It looks a little irritated now, but overall it looks ok, and the blood's gone (took me only a minute to clean it off), I hope I've seen the last of it. My lip piercing never bled, which is probably why I'm reacting like this to what was maybe half a drop of blood... I don't like it. Meh.
In other news, today is awesome because I'm almost done reading To the Is-Land by Janet Frame, the first part of her autobiography, and I'll finish it tonight (ten pages to go). I really had to get used to the stype of the prose in the beginning, but I like it now. I haven't decided yet what I'll read after this, but I'll post that tomorrow, as I'll have started it by then (hopefully). Until then, let's stay away from desk-edges and not touch the piercing.

I pwnd History Introduction

Today is awesome because my History Introduction exam went great! I think I owned it, anyway. There were two questions I didn't know the answers to, and another one I was pretty unsure about, but apart from that the exam was straightforward and not very difficult at all. I can't imagine having failed this one, I did pretty well if I say to myself. I studied my arse off this morning because I was behind on my revision for the exam, but at least all the hard (and not so hard) work paid off. On to Contemporary History!

Revision fail

Yesterday was awesome because the piercer I went to didn't have the needles needed, so I couldn't get my piercing. That was a good thing, because when I was surfing the web today, I found some not so good reviews of said piercer. So I've decided to go to a different one, which I read better things about. I think I may go tomorrow, or otherwise next week, I'm not sure.
Today is awesome because I get something done. Granted, it wasn't much, but it wasn't nothing either... It was a slightly better day than yesterday (yesterday I couldn't concentrate on my studying at all). So all in all, I'm still behind on my revision for the exam I have tomorrow, but I'm very successful at not freaking out over it. Go me!

snow and studying

Today is awesome because I summarized five chapters for History Introduction, read for a while and even sort of managed to decide on a new piercing. I also clearing things up with a friend I'd fought with yesterday, which made me feel a bit better. I'm still a bit miffed about his behavior, but I reckon I'll get over it. Oh, and there's SNOW! Now, I know that there's been snow for several weeks now, but it was almost gone a few days ago and now it's back, and it looks like Jack Frost is as wel. Awesome.

Studying

Today is awesome because I got 6 hours of studying done, whilst keeping a pretty relaxed pace. I've started summarizing my History Introduction textbook, which is coming along quite nicely.

when the weather outside is frightful...

Today is awesome because it's nice and warm inside, while outside it's freezing cold. I could stay inside for almost the entire day, so that was good. Hmm.. nice hot cups of tea..

Studying for real now

Today is awesome because 1) I remembered at the last second to write a message on this blog, 2) I got six hours of studying for my prelims done because I finally made a simple but effective half-hourly schedule for my day and 3) Tyler Oakley made this video, in which he says something that I need to be reminded of sometimes: that you need to love yourself. Aaand that's all really. I studied all day in my room, which made me more than a little anti-social when I had to come down for dinner and things (meaning the dishes) didn't go according to my planning... But my mom forgave me, fortunately. I'm just a little screwed up in the head sometimes.

Depression over

I've been away for a while, because I really couldn't see the point in anything anymore. My month of depression seems to be pretty much over though, and this video by Hayley of the Five Awesome Girls inspired me to get back on this blog and remind myself why every day is awesome. Sometimes (like today) I need the reminder. I've picked a pretty crappy day to resume this blog, because I flunked my exam on Medieval History that I took this afternoon, (I don't have the results yet, but I did really bad.) but the good part is that my meds make it so that this doesn't really bother me. So today is awesome because I saw my classmates again for the first time since the beginning of december, that was really awesome. Happy 2010 to me and the rest of the world.
