Twilight

Today is awesome because I've been getting back into Twilight after not really reading anything for a month, and I still love it. Every other page something happens that makes me smile, so I guess I should thank Stephenie Meyer for making me cheerful. I'm glad I can just ignore the really strange fanfictional plot and enjoy the story (I have a talent for not seeing the bad things when I don't want to). Anyway: no negativeness about Twilight! It makes me smile all the time, that's good enough for me. Screw literary quality.

shopping done

Today is awesome because I finished my shopping for Saint Nicholas, which had been nagging in the back of my mind for a while now because I kept procrastinating. I am now DONE, and all I have left to do is write two (or three) poems before Saturday. I can do that. Sure I can. I think.

NaNoWriMo WINNER!

Today is awesome because I won NaNoWriMo! Also, there were some other things that were awesome today:
- I saw graffiti that said "There is no spoon..."
- I saw graffiti that had 'nazi' spelled as 'nasi' (bloody morons who can't spell).
- My Contemporary History class turned into a Crowd Psychology class, which was totally awesome.
- Did I mention I finished NaNoWriMo? I didn't just reach 50,000; I finished the book. Now all I have to do is edit it somewhat (I'm not putting loads more time in it).
- I had a really interesting conversation with a classmate from elementary school (yes, really).

almost finished!

Today is awesome because I have only 700 words left to write for NaNoWriMo! It took me forever to get today's 4000 words written, but I managed. I'm a little behind on my homework now, but I think I just might be able to finish it before I have to leave for class tomorrow (no promises though).

the book is my b%^#h

Today is awesome because I finished my Medieval History homework and I managed to write a little over 2000 words for NaNoWriMo. I'm still behind, and I'll be cutting it close, but tomorrow I'll just put NaNoWriMo before homework, drink lots of coffee and get the b%^#h finished! That's right: the book is my b%^#h. Thank you Maureen Johnson.

relaxing day

Today is awesome because I decided to take the day off from useful things, and I stuck to it. It was very relaxing, until I realized that it's two days till the end of NaNoWriMo! Oh God! I'm too tired to write now, but I did force myself to finish the plot... sort of.

Today is awesome because every time I went outside, the rain stopped long enough for me not to need my umbrella.

Gothic!

Today is awesome because about half of my Medieval History class was about Gothic and Roman churches and the differences and similarities between them. I like churches. A lot. A really big lot. I could study History of Art just for the churches is how much I like them. Anyway, that was cool, and I'm also well ahead of my NaNoWriMo goal at the moment, which is very relaxing. The only stress-factor in my life right now is that I'm trying to decide whether or not to apply to the Honours College at my university... I'm kind of terrified of making the wrong choice, joy!

NaNoWriMo WIN!

Today is awesome because I'm pretty sure what minor I want to take, starting next semester, namely Non-Western Studies, which is really cool (especially the fact that I've managed to make a choice). And also, I did some massive writing for NaNoWriMo, because I revived my plot (which had died yesterday, sadly)! Yay!

writing

Today is awesome because I managed to write a little over 4,000 words for NaNoWriMo, which I hadn't really expected what with the stomach and backaches I had this morning... I took my time (extensively) for my Contemporary History homework for next week and all in all today was a very relaxed day. The whole week is going to be very relaxed as a matter of fact, because except for some 50 pages that I have to read for History Introduction and preparing a debate on the Israel-Palestine conflict, all my work is done! It is a great feeling.

still alive, no worries

Oh dear, I've been a bit absent lately, let me catch you up: Friday was awesome because I got loads done for Middle ages and even managed to write a little for NaNoWriMo (more on that later), and Saturday was awesome because I went to a friend's birthday. I hadn't seen her, and a few of our other friends who were there for ages, so it was great to see them again.
My total word count for NaNoWriMo as of yesterday is 27,454, which is not so good, but I've got a lot of writing planned for today. My Contemporary History homework is almost finished, and after that all I'm going to do is write write write. Thai is, for as long as I can manage sitting at my desk because today of all days my back is killing me. Oh well, you have to suffer to accomplish something (or somesort).

WIN!

Today is awesome because I got back the results from my essay, and I got a 7.9! I was in complete shock when my professor told me, but I am so so happy about it.
In other news: 26,456 NaNoWriMo words! A very productive day indeed.

EDIT: I notice my posts are getting shorter all the time. I think and hope that will get better after I stop exhausting all my creative energy with NaNoWriMo every day.

busy day

Today is awesome because I finished everything I had to do, including 2,000 NaNoWriMo words, which is good. I wanted to do more, but I just didn´t have the time, what with all the homework. Anyway, I think I did pretty well with the time I had. I feel like my plot is getting away from me a little, but I´ll manage.

NaNoWriMo!

The Internet broke yesterday, so I couldn't post. I'm also too tired right now to remember why yesterday was awesome.
Today is awesome because I wrote over 5,000 words for my novel! I'm halfway through catching up now, pretty much. Technically, I need to hit 30,000 tomorrow, but I don't think that I can do that (ok, I know that I can't do that), but I'm a lot closer now than I thought I would be this morning, which is good. Otherwise, today was boring, especially the History Introduction lecture, that was a total waste of time.

Essay is DONE

Today is awesome because I finished the second version of my essay on the expulsion of the Jews from England in 1290 and it doesn't suck. It's actually not half bad, and I really, really, really hope that I'll pass.. Kind of a lot depends on this essay (in my mind at least). If I fail, I can't retry untill next year, so I want to do it right.

Today is awesome because version two of my essay is almost done! All I have to do is write the conclusion and then fix any mistakes I might have made along the way and it's DONE!
Consequently, no NaNoWriMo.

essay 'snot dead

Today is awesome because I'm sort of understanding what I need to do with my essay and how I'm supposed to do it. Also, I wrote about 1600 words for NaNoWriMo, which I really needed. I'm still pretty far behind, but I'll have more time to write next week (fingers crossed!) so I'll be catching up on it then, if my plot doesn't die somewhere in between. It's still pretty alive though, which is good. I'm pretty attached to my characters, which isn't so good, because it means that every time I put them through emotional stuff, I get emotional too.

procrastination

Today is awesome because... I relaxed. Yup, that's it. I decided to relax and I did it. Pretty lame, but I feel a lot better because of it. Well, that and the fact that I got to figure out what the hell is going on in my head for an hour. In other news, I feel a winter depression coming up, so I need to hurry up and figure out a way to battle it before it hits me full force... That should be manageable, right?
No NaNoWriMo today, but I feel pretty good about procrastinating that. I also found my old Sony Walkman with all my music from when I was in Australia. Ah.. the memories!

prelim-results!!

Today is awesome because I got the results back from the preliminaries I took in october! I scored a 7.4 on Economic & Social History and a 7 on Ancient History. Which kind of makes not just my day, but my week. Awesome! I took the evening off to celebrate. Also, I bought Twitterature by Alexander Aciman and Emmet Rensin. Absolutely brilliant.

studybreak

Today is awesome because I took half the evening off from studying. I really (really really really) needed that. I've been studying like a madman (madwoman) for days now. I needed a break. I can't actually afford a break, I think, but my brain needed a breather from the relentless absorbing of information ten hours a day.
No NaNoWriMo though, no time, and when I finally get a chance to not study, I want to relax my brain instead of pushing it to produce words and sentences and something that makes sense, basically.

EDIT: As I'm reading that last sentence, I realize that it really doesn't make any sense... Oh well.

EDIT 2: 11,039 NaNoWriMo words! I decided I had an hour in which to write anyway.

finished!

Today is awesome because I actually managed to finish everything I have to do for classes tomorrow! Yay! That was unexpected. And I'm listening to 'A Song About an Anglerfish', which is really happy-making-ish. Can you tell I'm tired? My English is really suffering, but I can't really be bothered to think about what the heck it is I'm typing. It's one in the morning, by that way, so technically, it's already monday. And that means that yesterday was awesome because I managed to do everything I had to do.. *brainmelt*. Never mind. Tomorrow begins when I've slept and woken up again and it's light outside, that's the rule I love by.
No NaNoWriMo today, btw.

DFTBA

Yesterday: 9,742 NaNoWriMo words!
TodayL 9,742 NaNoWriMo words!

No NaNoWriMo words added today, but I did get a lot of homework done. Sort of. I put a lot of time into it, anyway. Today is awesome because I had (and still have) 'DFTBA' by Hank Green and Michael Aranda stuck in my head pretty much all day, which brightened my mood considerable. I like working on my essay, it's not that, but I'm just terrified that I won't get it finished in time (especially considering all the other stuff I have to do, I am swamped!) or that I will muck it up and fail Historical Skills. Which would suck immensly. Right now, I'm barely awake. G'night.

debate

Massive fail because I forgot to post yesterday. But I have an excuse! I had a severe brain-melt last night. Anyway, yesterday was awesome because one of my professors complimented me on my debating after I'd gone in front of the class and held a short argumentation about the bombing of Dresden at the end of WWII. I had about ten minutes to prepare.. So I'm really relieved that I actually managed to speak at all I was so nervous. I had to hold the table so people wouldn't notice my hands shaking. But it went ok, and I'm really glad they forced me to learn this in high school because I automatically speak in the right way (calm, clear, confident), even though I feel like I'm about to bloody faint.

I'm not sure why today is awesome yet, but starting off with an air-raid warning is pretty cool. The alarm went off about fifteen minutes ago. Don't you just love twitter as an information source? Everyone from around here was tweeting about it and it turns out there was an accident at the dairy plant about 16 km from here where a cloud of hydrochloric acid (HCl) was released and headed to the town (not my town).

Medieval History

Today is awesome because my Medieval History class was more like a what-the-heck-was-going-on-in-the-early-church-and- what's-the-idea-behind-dragging-around-corpses class. That was pretty awesome. We also tried to come to a conclusion on why the sunni and the shi'ites enjoy chopping each other's heads off, but we didn't quite make it to that before class ended, sadly. I'm starting to think that meybe theology is my thing as well. And Islamic Studies. And loads of other things. Social Studies, for example. I want to know too much. Well, that and I got my Historical Skills essay back today and my professor completely torched it. Like built an impressive pyre and watched it burn slowly to death for hours torched it. It's embarassing just to look at it. Then again, everyone's essay got torched, so it's not like a did really bad.

the Berlin Wall

Today is awesome because I've been studying my heart out bust still found the time to write almost 1,000 words for NaNoWriMo. Also, writing a tiny paper on the fall of the Berlin Wall was pretty fun. Right now I'm still studying History Introduction, as the Globalization paper ate my day and I still have to read a lot of stuff for History Introduction before tomorrow's lecture... Busy busy busy!

WWII pwns NaNoWriMo

Today is awesome because I attended a lecture by professor Renner about the Second World War, and it was amazing (the lecture, not the war). For example, I'd never before heard of Germany and Russia starting the war together, as allies for crying out loud. I don't understand why they don't teach us anything about that in, say, high school, because the evidence seemed pretty straight-forward to me. Anyhow, it's way too early for me to form any kind of judgment on this, so I won't. Just airing my thoughts here from a second.

NaNoWriMo

Today is awesome because it's the first of November and that means that NaNoWriMo has begun! I've only been able to write 800 words so far because i was busy with all kind of useful stuff for university, but I intent to catch up on that tomorrow. I'll make a little (though not too much) more time then. And the beginning is always the hardest (I hope).

Ghostbuster

Today is awesome because I know that somewhere, sometime about now, Tom Felton is walking around dressed as a Ghostbuster. I SO want to see those photo's.
Not celebrating Halloween, I've spent my day making myself do homework, to which my brain has protested fiercely. I couldn't focus on anything for longer than forty-five minutes. An all-time low, I think. One more paragraph of contemporary history and then I'm calling quits. I hope I'll be a little (ok, a lot) more productive tomorrow. I'd better.

Z's. Lots of them

Today is awesome because I slept in. That's really all. I spent most of the day studying for Middle Ages, which wasn't bad at all. Is it weird that I enjoy homework so much? I am rather glad about that, saves me a lot of agitation.

Today was awesome because... You know what? I can't remember. I'm sure today was awesome, but the alcohol in my bloodstream and brain isn't letting me remember why. Too bad.

Seneca?

Today is awesome because I had another class in History Introduction and it's still awesome. Also, I read some Seneca, who has a pretty relaxed view on life and death (I don't care if I die, I don't care if you die, I don't care if the world ends tomorrow because I'm mentally at peace with the world). That's a pretty relaxed (and stoic, I envy the stoics) view on things, but to me it seems very hard to accomplish. I am a rather emotional person and I can't even emotionally detach myself from my books, let alone my family and friends. I did bear the ruining of my Rosenwein (Short history of the Middle Ages) by coffee quite stoically, if I say so myself.

New classes

Today is awesome because I had my first History Introduction class. And it's awesome. So far, it's more social studies that history, which is really interesting. Generally speaking, they're teaching us about the history of history. I mean, how cool is that? No problems there. It was a really interesting lecture, mostly about Luhmann's social theory whatchamacallit. It's way complicated, but all the more interesting and a proper challenge because of it. A challenge! I thrive on intellectual challenges. Not that everything at university should be really complicated or anything, but some proper mindblowing what-the-fuck-is-this-supposed-to-mean-ednes every once in a while doesn't hurt.

gliding

I seriously need to remind myself to blog.. My excuse is that I have been very preoccupied this weekend, but even I find that a very lame excuse. Friday was awesome because I had the day off for the first time in two months. I still did some homework, but the point is that I didn't HAVE to, which was a very good feeling.
Saturday was awesome because my aunt and I co-celebrated our birthdays. Sunday was awesome because I went gliding for the first time since university started! It was really great. I flew for a total of twenty-five minutes in two flights, the first one a check-flight with an instructor and the second one solo. I loved every second of it, it was so quiet up there. It was also kind of sad, however, because this was probably the last time in a very long time that I flew. It might even be years before I fly solo again: university is taking up all of my time and therefor I have decided to put flying on hold for now. A painful decision, but a necessary one.
And now I've arrived at today. Class was rather boring (Medieval History anyway, Contemporary History was better), but today is awesome because I finished the book I was reading. It was a really brilliant novel about a woman who sort of learns through her relationships with seven different men (not all romantic) about life but mostly about how messed up she is in the head. She reminds me of myself in some respects, but I hope my psyche isn't as screwed up as hers... She ends up with a psychiatrist at the end, because all the philosophizing has driven her nuts and chased her lover away.. My life may be boring, but at least it's not as screwed up as hers.

bday (not mine)

Today (technically yesterday, but it's not tomorrow in my mind until I've gone to sleep and woken up again at some decent hour) was (a concession) awesome, because it's my grandmother's birthday (happy birthday grandma!!). I couldn't go visit, however, because today was also the day of my second and final preliminary of this half-semester whatchamacallit. It was on ancient history, in a class called Foundations of Western Civilization (very fancy). I think it went ok? At least I'm done with the prelims now, that's definitely a relief. I think I did well, sort of, but I'm not sure if I did well enough..
I also decided to check my class schedule, and they've changed it! I now have this weird class on Thursday's from 3 'til 6, which means I can't eat dinner at any normal time unless I eat junk. But they did give me Friday's off instead of Thursdays which I guess is cool. Long weekends!

btw. I was completely stressed out for today's prelim yesterday, that's why I forgot to post. But yesterday wasn't awesome anyway.. Except that a classmate sent me the most amazingly short summary of our textbook, that was pretty awesome.

ps. really awesome video: You're gonna miss me.

first prelim & Truth or Fail

Today is awesome because my first preliminary exam went great!! Ok, so I didn't ace it, but it went really well and I feel pretty confident about it. Never mind that all this confidence will evaporate during the coming hours (because that's what it always does. The reason I'm writing this blog now and not later tonight), right now I feel like I pwnd that exam beyond recognition. Which is of course no less than it deserves. I even finished an hour early. So I'm really relaxed now, which means I won't have so much difficulty concentrating on studying for Ancient History I, my second prelim (Globalization I being the first). Yay!

Another awesome is that I helped write the script for Hank Green's next episode of Truth or Fail, on hoaxes. It was hilarious. I was going to study tonight, but I'm glad I did this instead. It's really nice to work on something like that with some like-minded people, making up wierd hoaxes.

"In 1997, Hitler's evil baby clone (who we thought was in the Evil Baby Orphanage) escaped, and terrorized the small town he inhabited, killing all but 3 people.
We know these people today as Jackie Chan, Chuck Norris, and Homer Simpson.
Yeah, I know, I suck at making hoaxes."

If that isn't made of awesome, I don't know what is.

studyday

*listening to the twitter song by Melissa Suzanne* Genius!!

Aside from that, today's really lazy. I guess today is awesome because the companies have finally decided amongst each other who's going to buy the line of stores that I work for. So that's nice. I read that the store should be redecorated before the end of the year.
Slightly less awesome is that one of the smaller banks was declared bankrupt this morning. The owner is yelling about how it's the ministry of finance's fault, but really, he's just talking out of his arse. And that's all, sadly, I have very little to share on these days when I'm home all day studying.

Sunday, October 18, 2009

overstressed twitter

Today is awesome because I calculated my hours, and I've only spent 34 hours studying this week, which is shockingly little time. I haven't been below 40 (below 45, even) at all this semester. I actually feel a little guilty about it. Then again, it did have a lot to do with a few unforseen circumstances and the fact that my overworking myself finally cought up with me on wednesday.. and I crashed. I was like twitter when there's too many people online: everytime I tried to process information or someone wanted something from me, I freaked out.

potterpuffs

Today is awesome because I have found out that, despite what I thought, I am capable of slacking off. I had planned on doing a lot of studying today, but so far I have only done about three hours. I've been updating my profile page (meaning I've removed a lot and changed some other things) and took a long dive in the wonderful world of Potterpuffs! I love them.

Friday, October 16, 2009

bday!

Today is awesome because it's my birthday!
Slightly less awesome was that someone jumped in front of the train, causing me to get home an hour later than usual as I had to take a train, then a bus, and then a train again. I know, I know, I'm supposed to feel bad that I'm bitching about getting delayed when a person died and all, but I didn't know him/her. I mean, I can't care about everyone, right?
I didn't really celebrate my birthday. I have two tests next week which I should be studying for (not that I am, mind you, but I will be tomorrow), so I'm not entertaining any visitors this weekend. Everyone called though, that was nice. I'm just spending the evening relaxing, browsing a little on YouTube and reading some fanfics. A very good way to spend a lazy evening. I needed this.

Why today is awesome

I'm not doing this for anyone else. I'm doing this for me. This blog is a way for me to remind myself why my life is a good one, and there's good things happening to me every day. So here's what you (I'm talking to myself now) are going to do: every day, write down a reason why that day is/was awesome. That's all. Simple right? So let's start with today.
